A Space for You

It's a lot, isn't it? Being a teenager is not easy. You're trying to figure out who you are while the world around you feels like it's moving too fast. You’re caught between being a child and stepping into adulthood, wanting independence but still needing guidance. It’s confusing, overwhelming, and sometimes really lonely. This is for you if you are the teenager reading it.  If you the parent, these are the challenges your child is facing.

This service is a safe space for you to land, exhale, and just be. It’s a place where we get to the heart of what's going on, and it’s a space where no subject is off the table. Seriously. You can talk about the messy family stuff, the annoying friend drama, your sexuality, your parents, or even just what you're obsessing over on TikTok. This is a judgment-free zone where we’ll work with you, not on you.

A Message for Teens

I know it can feel like no one gets it, but I see you. I see the pressure you're under, the thoughts that keep you up at night, and the constant feeling that you have to be something for everyone else.

This space is just for you. The most important thing to know is that you're in charge. This isn't like a class or a lecture; you decide what we talk about, how we talk about it, and when we move on. Every topic is fair game. We can spend the whole session just sitting quietly, or we can unpack something that’s been on your mind for months.

My job is to walk alongside you and help you find your own path. We might do this by simply talking it through, but we can also use things like mindfulness, journaling or writing poetry, or creative exercises to help you process feelings that are hard to put into words. It's about finding a way to express what’s inside so you can feel lighter, calmer, and more in control of your own story.

You’re not broken. You don't need to be fixed. You're just a person navigating a really complex time, and you don’t have to do it by yourself anymore.

A Message for Parents

I want to start by acknowledging how hard this must be for you. You've raised a wonderful child, and watching them struggle, seeing the mood swings or the stress that feels too big, can leave you feeling helpless. You want to help, but sometimes you just don’t know how.

My goal is to create a bridge between you and your child. This service is a safe, confidential space for your teen to express themselves. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our work. It allows your child to build trust with me and to feel safe enough to be fully honest, which is essential for their healing. This means they can be confident that what they share will stay between us.

While the sessions belong to your teen, I will be a resource for you. I'm here to support you in understanding what they might be going through and to offer guidance on how you can best walk alongside them at home. The goal is to work together as a team...your teen, you, and me, focused on their well-being. We can help your teen develop the practical tools and coping mechanisms they need to navigate stress, anxiety, and big emotions.

 Common Challenges We Can Tackle Together

If you recognize yourself in this list, know that you’re not alone.  These are some challenges that you may face and some of the tools we use to assist you.  Remember our sessions are about you, so we do what you enjoy and adjust as we need to.

Anxiety & Worry: That racing heart, sweaty palms, and "butterflies" in your stomach are signs that your nervous system is on alert. We'll use breathwork and grounding techniques to calm your body and mind.

Stress About School: It feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. You have racing thoughts, trouble sleeping, and can’t seem to concentrate. We'll find ways to manage deadlines and pressure through setting time for yourself and journaling that helps you organize your thoughts and feelings.                                                                                            

Low Self-Esteem: You look in the mirror and don't like what you see. You feel "not good enough" and constantly compare yourself to others. We'll challenge negative self-talk and use creative expression to build a positive self-image.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Peer Pressure & Fitting In: You might have a pit in your stomach when asked to do something you don't want to do. We'll work on building confidence and setting healthy boundaries so you can be your true self.                              

 Bullying (in person or online): You feel isolated and hurt, or maybe you're hiding your feelings from everyone. We'll work on building resilience and finding your support system.                                                                                              

 Friendship or Relationship Struggles: Heartbreak and feeling left out can feel like a punch to the gut. We'll work on healthy communication and learn how to navigate complex relationships.                                                                       

 Family Conflicts: You feel misunderstood, and every conversation seems to turn into an argument. We'll find healthy ways for you to express yourself and feel heard.                                                                                                               

 Depression & Low Mood: This isn't just a bad day; it’s a sadness that doesn’t go away, a lack of energy, and a loss of interest in things you used to enjoy. We'll explore these feelings through talking therapy and other modalities to make life feel less heavy.                                                                                                                                                                    

Social Media Pressure: Your body feels tense, and you get anxious as you scroll through "perfect" images online. We'll develop a healthier relationship with technology and focus on what makes your life feel good.                                       

Identity & Belonging: You’re asking "Who am I really?" and "Where do I fit in?". We’ll explore your unique passions and values through creative therapy and help you find your voice.                                                                                              

Not Feeling Heard: You keep everything inside because "no one listens," and you feel invisible. We’ll make sure you feel seen and heard and give you the tools to express your needs.                                                                                  

Overwhelm & Burnout: Your mind is spinning, you're exhausted, and you snap easily. We’ll find ways to calm your nervous system and help you manage stress with somatic techniques and a focus on self-care.
